FOLL Awards $28,000 in Grants to the Livermore Public Library

The Friends of the Livermore Public Library approved five grants to the Livermore Public Library at the January 17, 2019 Board of Directors meeting. The five grants were made in response to requests from the Library Director, Tamera Lebeau, and provide for the following:

  1. Video Streaming Service: $10,000 to provide a library video streaming service that library patrons will be able to access by using their library card from home.

  2. Parent Outreach Materials: $1,300 for the purchase of copies of Jim Trelease’s book, The Read Aloud Handbook, to be distributed at outreach events to parents who are not already using the library or reading to their children regularly.

  3. “Lucky Day” Collection: $8,000 to purchase extra copies of the most popular books and DVDs.

  4. Books and Materials for the Adult Literacy Program: $1,000 to purchase materials for the Adult Literacy Program. This grant was funded by the generous gift of an anonymous donor.

  5. Summer Reading Children’s Performer Programs: $4,500 to fund high-quality youth programs for the 2019 Summer Reading Program.
